CoHabits

CoHabits Terms of Service

Effective date: September 16, 2026 Status: Publication draft โ€” obtain legal review before release where appropriate.

These Terms are an agreement between you and Kaila Canas ("CoHabits," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the CoHabits application, listed on the App Store as CoHabits: A Happier Home. By using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The service

CoHabits is a recordkeeping and coordination tool for a shared household. It keeps tasks, shared lists, events, and projects for one or more households on your device. Features may change, be added, or be discontinued.

The current version stores everything locally and requires no account. It does not sync between devices or between people. Two people running CoHabits on two phones each have their own separate copy; nothing passes between them.

Not professional advice

Tasks, reminders, schedules, completion records, and other app content are general organizational tools. They are not medical, veterinary, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and they are not a substitute for a qualified professional.

This matters most for health-related tasks. If you use CoHabits to track medication โ€” for a person or for an animal โ€” the app is a convenience for your own records, not a source of dosing guidance and not a safety system. You remain responsible for verifying every care decision and for obtaining professional help when it is needed.

Reminders are not guaranteed

Do not rely on CoHabits to tell you that something must be done.

CoHabits can schedule a local reminder for a task with a due date, but delivery depends on your device, its settings, its power state, and iOS itself, and can be delayed or missed entirely. A reminder is also only as good as the due date you entered. Anything with a real consequence โ€” a medication dose, a deadline, an appointment โ€” needs a reliable reminder somewhere other than this app.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, the decisions your household makes, lawful care of any people or animals in your household, the security of your device, and keeping your own copies of anything you would not want to lose.

Do not use the app to break the law, invade another person's privacy, or infringe another person's rights.

Data loss

The app stores your information on your device and provides no export and no backup of its own. A lost, damaged, reset, or replaced device may mean the information is gone.

Deleting is permanent. Removing a household removes its members, tasks, events, lists, and projects with it, and nothing is recoverable afterwards. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears everything.

A future version that changes how data is stored may not be able to carry existing data forward. We will avoid that where practical, but we do not promise that information entered in one version will be readable by a later one.

Your content

You own what you enter. The app does not upload it to any account or database operated by us, and the current version cannot transmit it anywhere at all. If a future feature needs to process your content through a service we operate, updated Terms and privacy disclosures will explain the limited rights needed to provide it.

Purchases and advertising

The current version has no advertising and no paid features. If we later offer a paid feature in the app, it will be processed under Apple's applicable App Store and in-app purchase terms, and pricing, renewal, restoration, refund, and cancellation details will be shown before purchase.

Ownership

Except for your content, the app, branding, design, software, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that reminders will arrive, that records will never be lost, or that the app will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the app. Our total liability for claims relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the app during the preceding 12 months or US $25. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending use

You may stop using and uninstall the app at any time. Uninstalling removes the app's local data from your device. Provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the app changes. We will update the effective date and provide any notice or consent required by law. Continued use after an update takes effect means you accept the updated Terms where permitted by law.

Apple terms

If you obtain the app through Apple's App Store, Apple's applicable standard end-user license terms also apply. If these Terms conflict with mandatory App Store terms, those mandatory terms control.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence continue to apply.
