CoHabits Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 16, 2026 Status: Publication draft โ obtain legal review before release where appropriate.
CoHabits is operated by Kaila Canas ("CoHabits," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how the current version of the CoHabits mobile application handles information. The app is listed on the App Store as CoHabits: A Happier Home.
Summary
CoHabits keeps everything on your device. The current version makes no network connections of any kind. There is no CoHabits account, no sign-in, no cloud sync, and no server that receives your household information. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party software development kits. It does not sell personal information and does not track you across apps or websites.
Information handled by the app
You may enter household names, member names and initials, member colors, tasks and their details, due dates and assignees, completion records, events, shared lists and list items, and projects with their tasks and subtasks.
All of it is stored on your device in the app's own storage. It is not transmitted to us, and the app has no code capable of transmitting it anywhere.
Completion records identify which household member marked a task complete, and when. That attribution exists so a household can tell whether shared care โ pet medication, for example โ has already been handled. It stays on the device with everything else.
What the app does not do
The current version does not:
- connect to any network, server, or third-party service
- create an account or ask you to sign in
- sync to iCloud or any other cloud service
- include advertising, analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting software
- request App Tracking Transparency permission or access the advertising identifier
- access your photos, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, or location
- offer purchases or subscriptions
Permissions
Notifications is the only permission the app requests. It is requested only when you turn on Reminders and updates in Settings, and iOS then asks you to allow or refuse.
If you allow it, CoHabits schedules a reminder for each task that has a future due date. The reminder shows the task's title, its household's name, and either its description or its category. That means a task's title can appear on your lock screen, so bear it in mind for anything you would not want a passer-by to read.
Reminders are scheduled entirely on your device by iOS. Nothing about them is sent anywhere, and they keep working with no connection. Turning the switch off, completing a task, or deleting it removes its reminder.
Device backups
If you use iCloud Backup, or back your device up to a computer, your device backup may include CoHabits data along with your other app data. That backup is created and controlled by Apple's services and your own device settings, not by CoHabits, and Apple's terms and privacy policy apply to it. This is standard iOS behavior for app data and is not a transfer of your information to us.
Sharing and third parties
We do not receive your household information, so we have nothing to share, sell, or disclose.
Apple may process App Store, download, device, or crash information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy as a result of your using an App Store app. CoHabits does not receive that information, and we do not receive everything Apple holds.
Retention, deletion, and control
Your household information stays on your device until you change it or delete the app.
You can delete tasks, list items, lists, events, projects, project tasks, subtasks, and whole households from within the app. Deleting a household also deletes everything inside it. None of it is recoverable, because the app keeps no copy anywhere else.
Deleting the app removes its local data from the device; a device backup made before then may still contain a copy, and you control that backup separately.
Because the app creates no account and sends us nothing, we generally hold no copy of your information to delete. Contact us if you believe we hold personal information about you.
Children
CoHabits is a general household-coordination tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information, and in the current version we collect no personal information from anyone. A parent or guardian may contact us with a concern.
Security
Your information is protected by your device: its passcode, its encryption, and the isolation iOS gives every app's storage. Because nothing is transmitted, there is no connection to intercept and no server of ours to breach. No method of storage is completely secure. Protect your device, your device passcode, and any backups you make.
Future sync, accounts, analytics, or purchases
If we later add iCloud sync, accounts, analytics, advertising, or purchases, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures before the new behavior ships, and we will ask for any consent the law requires. Cross-app or cross-website tracking will not occur without Apple's required permission.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the effective date and provide any notice or consent required by law for material changes.
